It was such a pleasure to participate in and receive a Certificate of Appreciation for my contribution to the World Business Angels Investment Forum.
The Forum is an affiliated partner of the G20 Global Partnership for Financial Inclusion and took place on 19 – 25 June 2023. It aims to ease access to finance for businesses from startup to scaleup to exit, with the ultimate goals of generating economic development, jobs and more social justice worldwide. This year the Forum was attended by a large global audience online. A record audience of 42,354 participants from all over the world joined the Grand Opening Ceremony online on Monday, 19 June.
Participating as a featured speaker on the panel dedicated to Leveraging technology for financial inclusion: opportunities and challenges, I shared my thoughts on recent links between fintech companies and higher education institutions, which are collaborating globally to leverage technology for financial inclusion.
Further, I stressed the need for changes in the regulatory environment that could better support this goal by implementing regulatory sandboxes that allow fintech companies and higher education institutions to test new technologies without facing immediate regulatory constraints. In addition, I expressed my strong belief that we need to follow an inclusive approach and strike the right balance between developments in the Fintech industry and the regulatory framework.
My key message to the audience was that by fostering collaboration, implementing supportive regulations, and promoting inclusive practices, we can ensure that technology in the financial sector promotes financial inclusion and narrows the gap in accessing financial services. Overall, my participation in the Forum was a rewarding experience and I was honoured to join the other industry experts in global efforts to ease access to smart finance, create more jobs and more social justice worldwide.
